Having founded the successful 'Croeso Care' home care services in 2007, we knew there was a real need for care homes that really care about their residents. It's normally the day that we all dread - not being confident or able enough to stay in our own home. But life shouldn't lose its happiness when you move into a care home - it should open new doors & provide some luxuries! We want to do everything that we can to give residents happiness & fulfilment in their later years.

We spent a long time looking for the right property. We wanted a convenient, but rural location with good views. We only wanted a small number of bedrooms, so that we could give more focused care & provide a more homely atmosphere, however, we wanted spacious & light rooms & multiple communal rooms. The outdoor space was important too - fresh air & sunshine is great medicine! We wanted plenty of space for seating areas and gardening space too. And of course, we needed everywhere to be suitable or adaptable for wheelchairs.

At last, we found a large home in Pencader, Carmarthenshire. It had previously been a residential home, but needed a lot of work doing. Just how much work, we were soon to find out!

The more work we did, the more problems we uncovered, so we ended up gutting the whole property. At least this meant we could get the room sizes we really wanted. Everything was done - from joists, to the enormous outdoor ramp & lift installation. All credit to the builders & various workmen who did an excellent job & stuck with it through thick & thin.

The later work was much more enjoyable, and no expense spared. Thoughtful, relaxing decor, sensory lighting throughout, high spec bathrooms with adjustable power showers, antibacterial carpets, wifi throughout, etc. And then of course there's the outside space... we planted an orchard, added raised beds so that residents who like gardening can help, erected a polytunnel, added plenty of seating areas & lastly... got some chickens!

So now we've opened our doors & are welcoming our new residents. Not that our plans have come to a close - we're now working on the onsite shop/cafe, hairdressers, chiropodist & pub! Please contact us if you'd like to enquire about residency or just want to come & have a look what we've done.
